River Landscape with Historical Traces

Odrava lies on the right bank of the Ohře near its confluence with the Odrava. Watercourses, historic crossings and places with their own history give the surrounding area several distinct features. Those who want to shape their stay around their interests will find a combination of landscape, local history, sport and regional events here. This makes it possible to explore the area both through its natural spaces and through specific experiences.

An important geographical point of reference is the D6, also known as the E48/E49: it runs through Odrava and connects Karlovy Vary with Cheb. The documented local history also includes a stone bridge over the Odrava, built in 1841, as well as the fact that Odrava was located at a ford across the Odrava. The ford and the later-built bridge represent two historical forms of crossing in relation to each other. In this way, local history becomes visible not only in a single structure but also in the connection between the watercourse and the transport route, without allowing any conclusions to be drawn about current traffic or access conditions.

The location of various destinations is also important for orientation in the surrounding area. Střelnice JIMI is located behind Odrava in the locality of Hlínová, between Cheb and Kynšperk nad Ohří in the Karlovy Vary Region. Mostov and Potočiště add cultural, natural and sporting themes to the municipality’s surroundings. Those who want to combine different interests for a day can thus distinguish between the river landscape, historical traces and active pursuits.

Sport and Events

A particular focus is Střelnice JIMI. In the area surrounding the municipality of Odrava, it offers public, club-related and sporting shooting opportunities as well as shooting courses. The year-round shooting competition JIMI CUP has been held annually since 2000 exclusively on the grounds of Střelnice JIMI. Its long event tradition exists alongside the facility’s ongoing offerings, but remains clearly tied to this specific venue.

Odrava hosts, among other events, the annual Rodinný den. In addition, the Kartarena, a sports complex with a go-kart track and kart rental service, is located in Potočiště in the area surrounding the municipality of Odrava. The range therefore extends from a traditional competition through other events to a motorized sporting activity. This creates a clear distinction for daily planning between an event listed in the calendar and an activity shaped by the sports complex. The various focal points make it possible to consider cultural and sporting interests separately without combining them into a single offering.

Mostov: Cultural Monument and Connection to Nature

Zámek Mostov is located in Mostov, in the area surrounding the municipality of Odrava, and has been a protected cultural monument since 1992. The castle is currently not open to the public while extensive reconstruction is underway. This current status is crucial for your planning: the cultural monument is part of the local history, but cannot currently be planned as a publicly accessible destination. Its historical significance and its present access restriction should therefore be considered separately.

Mostov is also home to a protected memorial avenue along the main Ohře cycle route. There is also a memorial oak tree there, regarded as an important natural feature of the region. The avenue and oak complement the cultural connection of Zámek Mostov with protected landscape elements along the cycle route. Posezení Na konci in Mostov/Hlinová offers homemade refreshments and seating at the end of the path near the forest. In this part of the area surrounding the municipality, a cultural monument, a connection to nature and a specific place to take a break are therefore found side by side, while the restricted access to the castle must continue to be taken into account.
