Doubi between Castle History and Protected Landscape

Doubí lies in the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area. The name of Doubí Castle has been documented since the mid-14th century. Doubí Chateau acquired its Baroque appearance between 1739 and 1756. A park with a viewing terrace was already created at Doubí Chateau in the 17th century. Together, the castle, chateau and park form a historical sequence combining medieval heritage, Baroque design and a park with a viewing terrace. Anyone wishing to compare different periods will find several specific points of reference.

The connection between nature and discovery is particularly vivid at the Svatý Linhart game reserve. It covers an area of 40 hectares and is freely accessible. A bridge structure takes the route up to six metres above the ground in places. The treetop trail includes two wooden treehouses and a viewing platform connected by walkable walkways. The different levels make the area a destination where you can experience the landscape from various perspectives. The freely accessible game reserve thus combines a connection with nature and a route that does not remain solely at ground level. The height of the bridge structure and the connected elements of the treetop trail create different vantage points. This allows your stay to be structured around open areas, walkways, treehouses and a viewing platform.

The viewing terrace in the park and the platform on the treetop trail show two different ways of experiencing the outdoors. At Doubí Chateau, the view is connected with a historic park; at Svatý Linhart, it emerges from elevated bridges, treehouses and walkable walkways. The Ohře Valley adds a landscape to these places that can only be accessed on foot or by bicycle. This changes the role of the route for visitors: in the game reserve, it leads across different levels; in the valley, through the landscape; and on the ascent to “Sv. Linhart”, to the attractions of the climbing centre.

The Ohře Valley also reveals another side of Doubí. The Ohře Valley, which can be reached from Doubí, is accessible only on foot or by bicycle. The starting point of the route through the Ohře Valley can be reached from the Tržnice stop by MHD bus no. 6.

A culturally unusual destination is Vánoční dům in Doubí. It is the first and only Christmas house in the Czech Republic and offers a year-round exhibition of Christmas ornaments and decorations. Café Andělská at Vánoční dům serves Christmas biscuits and vánočka. The year-round exhibition makes this destination interesting independently of a trip during Advent and complements the historical and nature-oriented experiences with a particularly distinctive theme.

From Doubí, you can also climb to the former excursion restaurant “Sv. Linhart” and try out attractions at the climbing centre there. Its former function as an excursion restaurant remains part of the local history, while the climbing centre provides a more active focus.
