The history of Bílá Třemešná is also shaped by what no longer survives today: František Antonín Harrach had the Renaissance château of Bílá Třemešná demolished in 1865–1866. Its origins date back to Adam Zilvár of Pilníkov. He bought Bílá Třemešná in 1594 and converted the local fortress into a Renaissance château. This gives the town a specific historical arc spanning a medieval fortification, later Renaissance design and the vanished château building.

Among the important monuments of Bílá Třemešná is a Roman Catholic church in the Romanesque style, founded at the end of the 16th century. On the southern wall of the Church of St James the Elder there is also a preserved sandstone memorial stone for Budivoj Třemešský from 1578. The old rectory was built in the Empire style. Another literary trace leads to Jan Amos Comenius: During his stay in Bílá Třemešná, he completed his work “Hlubina bezpečnosti”.

Les Království: Reservoir and cultural monument

The Les Království Reservoir is a national cultural monument and also represents an important chapter in the region’s history. After the severe flood of 1897, construction of the reservoir was decided upon; it was completed in 1919. The Les Království dam and its surroundings are freely accessible via public roads. Under favourable conditions, you can enter the observation tower of the Les Království exhibition.
