Discover Debrné: Bradlo, Ruins and Trails

Debrné combines a rich local history with distinctive landscapes and trails for active exploration. The first written records date back to 1260. Bradlo is particularly impressive: the castle, which no longer exists today, was built by the Teutonic Order.

Bradlo: Castle History and Climbing Rock

The Bradlo sandstone wall lies below the ruins of the castle of the same name near Debrné–Mostek. The Bradlo climbing sector has a total of 10 equipped climbing routes. The climbing area can be reached via a green-marked hiking trail. From the summit of Bradlo, there are views towards Nové Zámky, Dolní Olešnice and the Krkonoše Mountains. This makes the site a combination of historical traces, a specific opportunity for climbing and a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Historical Traces in the Debrné Area

Most of the former municipality of Debrné is covered by overgrown ruins of houses. The ruins also include the remains of the Chapel of St John the Baptist. The valley of the Debrnský potok, which stretches as far as the Polish border, is reminiscent of a ghost village. A hike here therefore focuses not only on individual remnants of walls: the valley conveys the character of an abandoned settlement, while the chapel ruins mark a specific historic site. The remains of the chapel add a sacred trace to the house ruins. Together with the castle ruins at Bradlo, they create a picture of different traces of local history – from the ruins of the former municipality to the castle history of the Teutonic Order. Marked Trails, Cycling and Winter Activities

The so-called Debrnská Route through the Debrné area is marked. Several asphalt and field roads run across the slopes of Debrné and are used by cyclists. Dozens of structures from Czechoslovakia’s pre-war fortifications are also located on the ridges and slopes of the surrounding hills in the Debrné area. When planning your visit, you can therefore choose between the marked route, cycling routes and historical discoveries.

For winter orientation, the Mostek Ski Area is part of the regional landscape. It is located at the entrance to the village of Mostek–Debrné, on the left side of Road No. 325 towards Hostinné. Alongside Bradlo, the historical relics and the marked trails, this adds a clearly located winter theme. Road No. 325 provides the geographical link to Mostek–Debrné and Hostinné, while the other highlights are located in the Debrné area.
