Hynčice

Hynčice combines the landscape along the Stěnava with remarkable geological outcrops, forest paths, a restored Way of the Cross and cycling routes through the Javoří Mountains. The village is located in the western part of the Broumov Spur, along the railway line and the road from Meziměstí to Broumov. This gives Hynčice a variety of starting points for a stay: you can explore geological features, walk through forests, discover historic paths or combine a cycling trip with views of several landscape areas.

Volcanic rocks at Hynčický Quarry

One of the most striking features is Hynčický Quarry on the eastern edge of the village. The former quarry for building stone and crushed stone lies about 200 metres northeast of the railway bridge over the Stěnava. Its quarry walls are more than 20 metres high and form a continuous outcrop of ignimbrites across their entire height. At Hynčický Quarry, you can discover the area's distinctive volcanic rock.

Permská stěna also reveals the geological character of Hynčice. The rock outcrop is located on the right bank of the Stěnava, is more than 200 metres long and up to 20 metres high. It exposes volcaniclastic rocks and reddish-brown fine-grained sediments of the upper Olivětín Beds. Permská stěna is considered a geotourism site and is best reached via the bridge over the Stěnava in the village centre.

Forest paths, the Way of the Cross and cycling trips

Around Hynčice, there are walking paths through deep forests that can lead as far as the ridges of the Javoří Mountains. A cultural addition is the Way of the Cross between Hynčice and Ruprechtice. It begins at a stone cross in Hynčice and ends at the church in Ruprechtice. The Way of the Cross dates from the 19th century and has been restored. The short walk passes beneath a railway viaduct, through a small deciduous woodland and along a meadow on an old path to the church.

For cycling, route 4002 through the Javoří Mountains begins in Hynčice. It runs mainly along quiet forest paths on the mountain slopes and offers views of the Broumov Basin, the Broumov Walls and the Javoří Mountains. The route “From the Javoří Mountains to Machov” is rated as moderately difficult and includes difficult sections in places. This allows shorter walks and geological discoveries to be combined with a more demanding cycling trip.

Orientation for your stay

Hynčice railway station is a specific reference point for finding your way around the village. It is located on railway line 027 from Starkoč to Broumov; a public car park is nearby.
