Mezilečí is a small village northwest of Česká Skalice, 10 km away, on a third-class road alongside a stream. Its character comes from gently rolling terrain, peaceful surroundings and a remarkable combination of village history and marked trails. If you would like to combine a stay in the Czech Republic with walks, cycling, regional discoveries and seasonal activities, Mezilečí offers several clearly distinct points of interest for this.

Hiking and cycling through the surrounding area

The yellow-marked local hiking trail 9461 leads from Hořičky through Mezilečí and Posadov to Křižanov. The gently rolling terrain and peaceful surroundings also provide opportunities for walks and mushroom picking.

For cycling trips, cycling route 4090 runs through the wooded northern part of Mezilečí. It then continues through the village district of Posadov towards Křižanov. The 33 km-long route 4090 connects Radvanice, Úpice and Slatinský mlýn. In addition to the local hiking trail, this provides a clearly described cycling option linking Mezilečí with other villages and stretches of landscape.

In winter, cross-country skiing is possible in Mezilečí when snow conditions are good. This limitation is crucial for seasonal planning: the possibility explicitly depends on the prevailing snow conditions and should not be understood as a permanent offering.

A wooden bell tower as a landmark

One of the most striking historical details is the listed Zvonice bell tower. The square, timber-framed structure dates from 1808, has a shingle roof and stands on a stone base. Mezilečí therefore has a concrete example of rural architecture and local history that clearly differs from the sporting and natural opportunities in the surrounding area.

The written history of the village also reaches far back: the first written mention of Mezilečí dates from 1495. The municipality also includes the village district of Posadov, which is one of the two village districts of the municipality of Mezilečí and was first mentioned on 25 July 1367. Those who would like to take in historical connections during a walk or cycling trip will therefore find more here than just a landscape backdrop.

Summer cooling at the sports complex

Another seasonal option can be found at the Mezilečí sports complex. The fire pond there is used for swimming in summer. Together with walks, marked trails and the historic bell tower, this offers a range of different ideas for a day out: you can explore the village along quiet paths, choose a longer route, look for mushrooms or include a summer swim in the pond.
