Lejšovka between village history, nature, and cycle routes

Lejšovka lies away from the main transport corridors and offers a quiet, richly detailed glimpse of Czech rural life. A sandstone cross dating from 1882 stands directly beside it. Another cast-iron cross of heritage value on a stone pedestal is located opposite the pond. These small architectural and commemorative sites give Lejšovka a clearly recognisable local character without the village losing its traditional scale.

The former school is also part of the local history. It is classified as a building of local historical or local architectural value. The former classroom is used for cultural purposes; aerobics and table tennis also take place there. The historic water castle in the Kalthouz forest on the southern edge of the Lejšovka cadastral area complements this picture. Remains of the site have survived and may date from the second half of the 13th century. This cautious dating is an important part of the tradition surrounding the site and should not be expanded into a more precise chronological classification.

Natural surroundings and special discoveries

Kaltouz Biocentre and the Violky wet meadow are associated with Lejšovka, Smržov, and Libřice. The critically endangered tall violet species Viola elatior grows in the wet meadow. In eastern Bohemia, it occurs at only one other location besides this site.

Cycling, the pond, and local activities

The area around Lejšovka is crossed by a network of cycle routes. Cycle Route 4166 passes through the village, making it interesting for planning a cycling route as well. The local fishing association regularly organises fishing competitions at Náveský rybník. Next to Náveský rybník is a sports complex with sand courts for tennis, volleyball, and nohejbal; the complex also includes a small-sided football pitch. Those who consider different ideas for each day when choosing accommodation will therefore find several clearly distinct points of interest here: cycling, the pond, local events, and sports facilities.

Another special feature is the small-sided football tournament “O posvícenský tuplák”. It takes place every year on the last Saturday in August. This fixed date connects the local events calendar with a specific travel period. Outside this date, the village remains interesting for its historical details, cycling connection, and natural areas, without this implying any additional event schedule.

Lejšovka has bus connections to Hradec Králové and Jaroměř.
