Zlončice: Nature and Trails at Zlončická Gorge
Zlončice brings together protected landscapes, paths to the Vltava, and local traditions within a compact thematic area. If you would like to combine nature experiences with activity and distinctive local stories during your trip, you will find several different points of interest here: from dry grasslands and rare plants to riding opportunities, cycling routes, and a well with a changing function.
Protected Landscapes Around Zlončice
Hlaváčková stráň preserves a characteristic landscape with distinctive relief as well as geological and geomorphological features. Its defining habitats include dry grasslands and rocky steppes. They are home to notable representatives of the heat-loving steppe and forest-steppe flora and fauna. For a stay in Zlončice, this means above all a landscape whose appeal lies not only in a single viewpoint, but in the combination of relief, rock, and special habitats.
Zlončická Gorge is a natural biocorridor and a protected landscape zone within Přírodní park Dolní Povltaví. Rare plants grow in the gorge. You can descend through Zlončická Gorge to the Vltava or cycle there; it connects to a hiking trail and a cycling route. This makes the gorge possible to discover both as a destination for a walk and as part of a more active route plan, without the two forms of visit requiring the same experience.
Horse Riding, Cycling, and Local Traditions
Stáj Dolánky offers riding lessons for young children and individual riding instruction. The offer also includes rides along the river and on country roads in the vicinity of Zlončice. This gives families with different interests another way to plan their stay: younger children can focus on their own riding experience, while individual instruction and rides appeal to other forms of horse riding.
For cyclists, cycling route 8272 is particularly clearly located. It is signposted at the “Zlončice, rozcestí” trail sign and leads towards Chvatěruby and Postřižín. Those who prefer to connect their plans to a local event rather than a signposted route will find another link to Zlončická Gorge in Zlončické veselí: a run through the gorge was part of the program at Zlončické veselí.
Well and Events
The Zlončice well is located in the recreational area by the municipal office on the village square and is freely accessible. Originally, it was a municipal reservoir for river water. Following a modern redesign, it now serves exclusively decorative purposes. Zlončický den also adds its own cultural accent: it takes place every year around the turn of August and September in memory of the 2002 flood.
