Culture and History in Zbečno

Hamousův statek, one of the oldest publicly accessible monuments of folk architecture in Central Bohemia, is one of the town’s defining sights. The exhibition presents traditional crafts and life on a rural farmstead. As a result, the focus is not only on the building itself, but also on the working life associated with such a farm. There is also a special local tradition every Sunday: homemade bread is baked in the farmstead’s old oven. The Roman Catholic Church of St Martin was built in the mid-14th century. After being damaged, the Gothic church received Baroque façades and interiors during an extensive reconstruction in 1715. The parish is still active, and the church is used for regular services. The Masaryk Bridge, dating from 1924–1925, also crosses the Berounka. For those interested in architectural history, this site therefore brings together medieval origins, Baroque alterations and contemporary religious use.

Hiking and the Berounka Landscape

Zbečno lies in the Berounka valley, in the Křivoklátská vrchovina area, and is part of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. The Naučná stezka Brdatka is a 7 km educational hiking trail of moderate difficulty. Its 17 information panels cover the protected area as well as its fauna, flora and forests. The route includes the Gloriet viewing pavilion; one station offers views into the Berounka valley and the panorama of the wooded Křivoklátsko hills. The length, moderate difficulty and variety of topics give the hike a clear structure.

For a longer hike, the 7.5 km Procházka přemyslovským hvozdem is available, with a moderate level of difficulty. It runs from Křivoklát railway station to Zbečno railway station. The two stations mark the beginning and end of the route, making its progression easy to follow. In addition, the Vodácká naučná stezka Berounka provides information at 14 stations about the river, local nature, history and notable figures. One designated station is located at Kemp Riviéra in Zbečno. Thus, alongside the longer hike, there is also a river-themed educational route; the two options offer different focuses for an active day.

Getting There and Choosing Where to Stay

Zbečno lies on the Beroun–Rakovník railway line and has train connections. A direct bus connects the town with the city of Kladno.
