Discover Všechlapy
Všechlapy between Cycling Tradition and Archaeology
Všechlapy is a destination for travelers who want to get to know a place through more than just a single landmark. The local themes range from an annual mountain biking event to archaeological sites from very different periods. They are complemented by a gently rolling landscape and a village setting without pronounced landscape divisions. This gives you several distinct points of interest: an annual sporting event, historical discoveries, and specific landscape features.
The Všechlapská šlapka
The Všechlapská šlapka is a mountain bike race held annually in Všechlapy. The route is 33 kilometers long and runs mainly along field and forest paths. Participants of all ages take part in the Všechlapská šlapka. If you are specifically looking for a stay around this event, its name, length, and surface give you a clear idea of the event’s character, without requiring any particular level of difficulty or athletic performance to be inferred.
A Bell Tower and Traces of the Past
One distinctive historical detail is the wooden bell tower in Všechlapy. It was made from a single tree trunk, has a small roof, and contains a bell bearing the year 1759. The documented traces extend far back in time beyond this structure as well. Parts of a mammoth skeleton were found during road construction in the direction of Nymburk.
At the former site of Sad Míru, settlement traces from the Late Bronze Age, the Early Roman Imperial period, and the Early Middle Ages were found. The same former site also contained an early Slavic semi-sunken hut with a heating installation in the northeastern corner. Differently worked stones were also found in the vicinity of Všechlapy, between Všechlapy and Krchleby. The history of the village is thus evident not only in a single historic structure, but also in archaeological finds from several periods.
Na Kyselce and the Landscape around Všechlapy
The Na Kyselce archaeological enclosure lies on the northwestern edge of Všechlapy. It has the shape of an irregular oval measuring approximately 240 × 160 meters and is bounded by two parallel, repeatedly interrupted ditches. These details characterize the site through its location, approximate extent, and structural or landscape boundaries.
The watercourse Klobuš is also important for spatial orientation: it comes from the north and bends slightly southeast in the Všechlapy area. Všechlapy lies in gently rolling terrain without pronounced landscape divisions. Anyone who values a place with clearly defined historical themes and a gently varied landscape when choosing accommodation can take these features into account during further research.
An Annual Musical Event
Once a year, Všechlapy hosts the Ostofest music group showcase. Together with the Všechlapská šlapka, this event complements the historical themes with a recurring cultural occasion. Travel planning therefore involves different documented reasons to visit, and their dates should be considered independently of one another.
