Discover Tatce: Trails, History and Family Moments

Tatce combines a predominantly flat landscape with distinctive trails, historical traces and activities for a varied stay. If you are looking for a place where cycling, regional discoveries and a glimpse into the past can be combined, Tatce offers several clearly documented points of interest for this purpose.

Cycling and pilgrimage trails as a common thread

Tatce lies on the fourth stage of the Blaník–Říp pilgrimage route. The entire route is divided into seven stages and measures just under 190 kilometres. In addition, Cycle Route No. 109 runs directly through Tatce. This means that two different forms of travel meet in the village: a pilgrimage route divided into several daily stages and a designated cycle route that passes directly through Tatce.

Another route with regional significance is Tajuplná místa Podlipanska. Tatce is stop 7 on this route. It consists of 20 numbered information boards distributed among notable places and various municipalities. The boards tell local stories and legends connected with the respective locations, complemented by photographs and further information. Since the individual stops are several kilometres apart, the route is more suitable for motorists or cyclists. For you, this means that the route is primarily designed as a series of several places to discover, rather than as a compact walk in a single location.

History from the Bronze Age to the village chapel

The historical connections reach far back into the past. The Za Mlýnem settlement is dated to around 900 BC, in the Late Bronze Age. Excavations uncovered the skeletal graves of a child from the Early Bronze Age, around 2000–1550 BC, and of a middle-aged woman from the Middle Bronze Age, around 1500–1300 BC. These finds give Tatce’s historical heritage a tangible archaeological dimension.

The first written mention of Tatce dates from 1292. A visible part of the village’s present-day appearance is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in the western part of Tatce. It is a rectangular chapel dating from 1843 and has a structure for a bell. This means that the history of the village can be explored not only through excavations and information boards, but also through a preserved building.

Playground, sports and a documented family event

For families, the Dětské hřiště U Statku playground, with a rope carousel, swings, climbing equipment, a slide and spring rocking toys, is a specific place to visit. In addition, Tatce has a multi-purpose sports field available to the general public for sports and leisure activities.

An earlier example of local events is the Tatecká fošna, documented on 31 August 2024. The entertaining family afternoon took place at the swimming pool in Tatce and included crossing a board by bicycle and with a wheelbarrow, a surf trainer, face painting for children, airbrushing, a parkour show and an evening music programme. Orientation for choosing a location

For geographical orientation, there is also Road II/334, which runs through Tatce and connects Sadská, Kouřim and Sázava. Tatce is also located on the Prague–Kolín railway line. Together with the routes running directly through the village, this information helps place Tatce within its regional transport and excursion context without anticipating specific travel times or distances.
