Dobřichov between the Educational Trail and Local History

The Markomanů Educational Trail begins in Dobřichov’s village square next to the steps leading to the church. From there, it follows the green-marked Pečky–Kouřim hiking trail. The Pičhora car park is available in Dobřichov for visitors to the educational trail. At the end, there is a station with a Germanic house, giving the route not only a short path through the village but also a clear archaeological focus.

Church, Hill and Architectural History

The Church of the Holy Trinity stands on a hill above Dobřichov. The present Baroque church dates from the 18th century and occupies the site of an older Romanesque church from the 10th century. This older church was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 14th century. To this day, the building preserves parts of the eastern nave and the presbytery from the Early Gothic construction phase. On the hill behind the church, there is also an 18th-century Baroque wayside cross on the road to the cemetery. This makes it possible to combine a visit to the church with further historical details at the same local landmark.

Archaeological Traces to the West and at the Cemetery

The Pičhora archaeological burial site lies immediately west of Dobřichov. The protected heritage area has a memorial stone commemorating the archaeological excavations in the late 19th century, during which numerous cremation graves were discovered. Another important site is the Třebická burial ground. It comprises more than 100 Germanic graves from the Roman period and lies behind the cemetery in Dobřichov on a marked cycle path to Cerhenice. Thus, alongside the educational trail, there are also independent archaeological destinations that make different periods of local and regional history visible.

Nature Monument and Local Tradition

Dobřichov is also associated with Sládkova stráň, a nature monument. Dry, heat-loving plant communities with high species diversity and rare orchid species grow there. This natural aspect complements the historical sites with a special insight into the local flora. The present-day character of the village is also reflected in an annual traditional event: Events in Dobřichov include a lantern procession.
