Stochov between Heritage and the Present

Stochov combines local heritage with culture and specific reasons to visit. According to local tradition, Prince Saint Wenceslas was born in Stochov in 903. According to local tradition, Saint Ludmila planted the Svatováclavský dub on the day of Wenceslas's birth. These two traditions connect Wenceslas's birth with the Svatováclavský dub and provide two different points of reference for the historical theme in Stochov.

The Church of St. Wenceslas in Stochov is originally Gothic and dates from the 14th century. The Stochov Museum is located at Náměstí U dubu 30 in Stochov. Both places can be considered separate stops in a day's itinerary, without requiring a fixed order.

It takes place from September 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. until September 27, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mírové náměstí in Stochov and offers two days of music, entertainment and food. The start at 10:00 a.m. and the end at 1:00 p.m. define the timeframe across two consecutive days. The combination of music, entertainment and food gives the event cultural, entertaining and culinary elements.

The “Stochovská Thálie” theatre festival takes place every year in autumn, usually in October. The two types of events therefore take place at different times: the Posvícení is scheduled for September 26 and 27, 2026, while the Thálie takes place every year in autumn, usually in October.

Orientation in the Town and Regional Connections

For travel planning, the regional railway line is a concrete point of reference: Stochov is a stop on the S50 regional railway line in the Kladno–Rakovník corridor. The S50 extends orientation beyond the cultural and event venues and connects Stochov with the Kladno–Rakovník corridor.

Another special feature lies in the surrounding area: Stochovská kaplička is located in Konopas on the road from Nové Strašecí to Stochov and was built in 1856 by the Kurzveilovi couple as a Marian chapel. Thus, in addition to the traditions surrounding Wenceslas, a 19th-century Marian chapel serves as another distinct historical point of reference.
