Stipoklasy: Local History, the Vrchlice and Surroundings

Štipoklasy offers two clearly distinguishable approaches for planning your trip: the history of the village and the landscape in the surrounding region. The medieval and modern center of Štipoklasy contains an area with documented or well-founded suspected archaeological finds. The village was first mentioned in writing in the 14th century; at that time, it belonged to the Zbraslavice castle and estate. The Štipoklasy stronghold was abandoned in the 17th century, eventually fell into disrepair and disappeared. The village is also home to rural House No. 23, which is protected as a cultural monument. The Vrchlice and Hills in the Surrounding Area

The Vrchlice rises east of the village of Štipoklasy in the Kutná Hora District and flows through the village. The nearby area includes Janovický kopec hill (Červené Janovice), U Rápošova hill (Zbraslavice) and U Kŕíže hill (Opatovice I). Neither a cycle path nor a marked hiking trail leads through the area of Štipoklasy. If you are planning to hike or cycle, the specific route should therefore be planned as a separate step.

Getting There and Orientation

The area of Štipoklasy is connected by Road II/126 in a north–south direction to Zruč nad Sázavou and Kutná Hora. Road II/339 runs via Čáslav, Štipoklasy and Ledeč nad Sázavou. These two road connections provide clear orientation for getting there and for choosing a suitable location. For your specific connection, you should also take your personal travel requirements into account. If you are planning to travel by train, it is important to note that the Štipoklasy railway station building, including the passenger shelter, is not accessible.
