Hostovlice Between History, Village Life and Cycling Routes

Hostovlice is located in the Čáslav Uplands at an altitude of 281 metres and combines a manageable rural setting with notable traces of history. The first documented mention dates back to 1244. If you are looking for a place whose character can be discovered not only through major sights but also through village details and regional routes, Hostovlice offers several different points of interest.

The estate in Hostovlice and its long history of ownership form part of the historical picture: it remained in the possession of the Auersperg family until 1945. There is also a square bell tower on the village green. The local legend “O Hostovlické zvoničce” is associated with it. Remains of the so-called “Hladová” Wall have also survived in Hostovlice to this day. Exploring the village therefore allows you to connect specific buildings, traditional tales and visible relics.

The Panský rybník pond is a destination in its own right. The body of water covers 0.36 hectares and is located in the cadastral area of Hostovlice. It was opened as a new shared fishing water for anglers from 1 August 2026. The choice of location can therefore also be considered from the perspective of whether you want to focus your stay more on historical discoveries or on a particular nature and fishing experience.

Cycling route 0117 is particularly relevant for getting around by bicycle. It runs from Čáslav via Tupadly, Schořov and Bratčice to Hostovlice. In the village, it connects to Route 1 towards Ronov nad Doubravou and Třemošnice. If you plan your trip along these routes, they provide a clear connection between Hostovlice, Čáslav and other nearby places. At the same time, the following applies to arrival and getting around: buses connect Hostovlice with the surrounding municipalities and the town of Čáslav, but individual mobility is nevertheless required.

Local life is reflected in recurring events and clubs. The volunteer fire brigade association organises the annual raising of the maypole. The sports club holds a traditional masquerade procession. The Czech Breeders’ Association also organises a winter exhibition of rabbits and pigeons. By 18 and 19 February 2023, this exhibition had already reached its 32nd edition.

The surrounding area also broadens the range of possible day trips. Žleby Castle offers an insight into the everyday life of the nobility in the 19th century. Special tours are offered at the Žleby Game Park, providing families with unique experiences. In the village itself, by the former premises of the agricultural cooperative, there is a milk vending machine supplied by a local farmer. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore consider whether you want to use Hostovlice as a quiet base for exploring the region, as the destination of a cycling route, or in connection with a stay focused on history and events.
