Rozdalovice – Culture, Nature and Family Discoveries
Rozdalovice combines impressive architectural heritage with a nature trail that brings nature and discovery together for children. In the town center, the Church of St. Gall stands on elevated ground north of the square and next to the chateau. This cultural focus is complemented by the Melantrich Gallery and the Rožďalovice Town Museum. The Holské rybníky Nature Trail offers a different perspective on the surrounding area.
Church, Gallery and Museum in the Town Center
The Church of St. Gall is a powerful Baroque building with a distinctive two-towered façade. In addition to the church, the protected area includes a cemetery with tombs, an enclosing wall and the associated plots of land. Its position on elevated ground makes the church a clearly recognizable landmark in the town center, without making it representative of the entire townscape.
The Melantrich Gallery is located in a listed building with an arcade from the original wooden-house development. It also houses the original “Pamětní síň rodáků,” a memorial hall for people born in Rožďalovice, which was moved there from the old school building. On average, the gallery hosts four exhibitions over the course of the year. This means that a visit can be shaped not only around the building itself, but also around changing exhibition themes.
The Rožďalovice Town Museum is located in a former school building at 146 Husova Street, above the library. It presents the history of the town from the earliest times to the end of the 20th century. The first hall houses an exhibition about the educator Gustav Adolf Lindner and the printer Jiří Melantrich. For your travel planning, the museum therefore offers both a broad overview across time and a specific introduction to two personalities.
Holské rybníky Nature Trail and the Na Holi Landscape
The Holské rybníky Nature Trail is 2.7 km long and has several stations with information panels. There are interactive elements for children, including rope features, a long-jump station and a dendrophone.
The Na Holi area associated with the nature trail features a diverse mix of wooded areas, pastureland, forests and ponds. These different landscape elements shape the surroundings of the trail: Between the stations, you will encounter not only information panels, but also changing forms of natural and cultural landscape.
Which Experiences Suit Your Trip
If you are primarily interested in architectural heritage, local history and exhibitions, St. Gall’s, the Melantrich Gallery and the town museum offer three different points of access. Families who want to combine cultural sightseeing with an active activity can add the Holské rybníky Nature Trail as a focus in its own right. This allows you to plan your trip between the town center and the landscape according to the experiences you want, without conflating the cultural and nature-oriented sides of Rozdalovice.
