Kuří – Forest Paths, Mills and Local History

Kuří combines quiet paths through forest and valley with a local history that can be traced through its school, chapel, and monument. The path follows the Pitkovický stream through the forest and offers a variety of natural landscapes. After its consecration, the school was not only a place of education but also played an important role in the community’s social and cultural life. The former school in Kuří was closed in 1969 because of the low number of pupils. This historical development makes the school an important part of the village’s history, without equating its former character with its current use.

The chapel in Kuří, built by the municipality in 1903, is also part of the area’s historical landmarks. On September 28, 1921, the foundation stone was laid for the Kuří monument to local people who fell in the World War. Together with the school’s history, these dates tell of the various roles that buildings and public places have fulfilled in the community: education, social life, and remembrance.

Cornův, Dolejší mlýn stands in an isolated location near Kuří.
