Krusovice: Hiking, Brewery and History

Krusovice combines a long brewing tradition with hiking trails, Baroque architecture and historical traces in the landscape. This gives you a range of experiences to choose from when planning your trip: You can explore Louštín, discover the surroundings of the Rabas Mill, learn about the history of the brewery or reach Krusovice by bicycle. Krusovice is also home to three pedunculate oaks designated as natural monuments, adding a distinctive landscape feature that underscores the area's connection with nature.

Hiking on Louštín and to the Rabas Mill

With the exception of two short sections, the Louštín hike follows marked hiking trails. It leads to the 537-metre-high summit and has a total elevation gain of 150 metres. Along the route are the ruins of the wall of the former Křivoklát game park from the 18th century. Louštín is also home to mighty beech trees, which are considered a modest example of the area's original forests. The remains of a prehistoric hillfort, probably dating from the La Tène period, are also located in the immediate vicinity of Krusovice.

The hike to the Rabas Mill has a different trail character. It follows field and forest paths, some of which are paved, but apart from a short initial section, it runs mainly outside marked hiking trails. The Rabas Mill in the immediate vicinity of Krusovice is not open for interior visits and can only be viewed from the outside. Its history dates back to the 16th century; it is also the birthplace of the painter Václav Rabas. The two hikes therefore differ not only in their destinations but also in trail surface and markings. The different markings, trail surfaces and 150 metres of elevation gain can be taken into account when planning your excursion.

Brewery, Château and Chapels

Beer has been brewed at the Krušovice brewery since 1581. Krušovice Château is a large, two-winged Baroque building dating from around 1711. A Baroque chapel adjoins its eastern wing, while additional brewery buildings adjoin the château. The Krušovice Brewery Museum displays equipment used in hop cultivation and malt production. It also features coopers' and blacksmiths' tools used to make barrels.

The Baroque Jordánek Chapel is also among the historical sights in the immediate vicinity. It rises above a pond basin fed by a spring.

Discover Krusovice by Bicycle

Cycle route 8192A passes through Krušovice. The Poddžbánsko Beer Cycle Route also includes routes 0115 and 0116. Route 0115 runs from Lužná railway station to Krušovice. Route 0115 thus connects Lužná railway station with Krušovice, while route 8192A passes through the town.
