Hájek includes a 2.6-hectare marshland area and a meadow covering approximately 10 hectares. The Vrutický spring is also located on the southeastern edge of Hájek. Its water flows into the Košátecký Stream.

History with a Personal Connection to a Name

The name Kropáčova is closely connected with the town's history. The Kropáč family owned Vrutice until 1710; the addition “Kropáčova” derives from the name of this owner family. Miroslav Tyrš is also connected with the town: he moved with his mother to relatives in Kropáčova Vrutice, where his mother died in 1838. In 1862, Tyrš founded the Sokol sports association together with Jindřich Fügner.

In Krpy stands the originally Gothic Church of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, dating from the 13th century and expanded in the Baroque style in the 17th century. The archaeological finds there include prehistoric material and finds from the High Middle Ages. The exact location of the former fortress in Krpy is uncertain. However, an eastern ditch may have survived, alongside which a road runs south of the village. This combination of visible architectural history, archaeological traces, and an explicitly uncertain tradition offers different ways of approaching the past.

Marked Cycle Route 8146 runs through Kropáčova Vrutice. It connects the Kokořínsko area with the former Milovice-Mladá military area. Kropáčova Vrutice railway station is located on line 070 between Praha-Čakovice and Turnov and further helps you choose your starting point.
