Krásná Ves Between Village History and Landscape

Krásná Ves combines a long local history with a picturesque landscape and lies approximately 9 km west of Mladá Boleslav. The current name has been in use since 1922. This makes the village interesting both for visitors looking for a rural destination in the Mladá Boleslav area and for those seeking relaxation in holiday homes. Its special appeal lies less in a single major attraction than in the interplay of preserved historical traces, local cultural life, events and opportunities for excursions.

Historical Traces in the Village

The history of Krásná Ves goes back a long way: between 1184 and 1215, the village was first mentioned in written sources as property of the Prague Archbishopric. A particularly vivid trace of this past can be found on the eastern edge of the village. There stands an 18th-century Baroque barn, preserved as the remains of a former manor farm. The barn and the gate are the only surviving structures of this former farm. The barn is also notable for its original single-leaf Baroque door.

Almost in the centre of Krásná Ves stands a memorial cross. Together with the barn, it conveys two different historical points of reference within the village: here, the memory of the former manor farm; there, a distinctive landmark in today's settlement area. Anyone walking through Krásná Ves can therefore trace the village's history through individual concrete buildings and sites.

Culture, Sport and Events

The local cultural life includes a cultural hall. The events also show that Krásná Ves is shaped not only by older buildings. In 2025 and 2026, children's events for making Easter decorations were held; in 2025, Easter decorations were made from straw. The autumn programme included children's pumpkin-carving events in 2023 and 2025. The 2025 event was combined with a lantern procession. These dates refer to past events and at the same time provide a concrete insight into the forms of local community life.

Krásná Ves also has a municipal multi-purpose sports field. In October 2025, the municipality launched a reservation system for this new multi-purpose sports field. The event profile also includes the Krásnoveský pohár, a recurring firefighting sports competition held from 2007 to 2026. Christmas tree lightings took place on 2 December 2023 and 29 November 2025.

Cycling and Culture in the Surrounding Area

For active excursions, signposted cycle route number 143 runs near Krásná Ves. It adds a practical opportunity to explore the region by bicycle to the rural surroundings, without reducing the village itself to a single activity.

Mladá Boleslav Castle is also located in the surrounding area. It houses permanent and temporary exhibitions of the Mladoboleslavsko Museum. The origins of the castle date back approximately to the second half of the 10th century. This makes it possible to combine a stay in Krásná Ves with regional history and museum culture: in the village, the modest historical evidence is the main focus, while the nearby castle adds a larger cultural destination for an excursion.
