Drachkov combines local history, a distinctive landscape along the Zahořanský potok and several walking directions. This creates a destination where historical details, the watercourse and rural paths are closely connected.

History Around the Špejchar

The contribution granary known as Špejchar Drachkov is at the heart of the village’s history. It was built from the remains of the original fortress and is a massive three-storey building on the corner of the manor farmyard. Its architectural form shapes the village’s appearance and connects the former fortress complex with its later use as a granary. More recent history is also part of this place: in 2012, Špejchar Drachkov was threatened with being sold by the town of Bystřice. A petition and the local association Špejchar Drachkov, z. s., saved the building.

The war memorial in Drachkov includes a plaque commemorating the victims who were tortured by the Nazis during the Second World War. At the end of Drachkov in the direction of Tožice, there is also the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. For a walk through the village, you can plan the war memorial as a stop within the settlement and the chapel as a landmark at the end of the village towards Tožice.

The Zahořanský potok and the Village Landscape

Drachkov stretches for approximately 1 km along both banks of the Zahořanský potok. In Drachkov, the stream flows through the Lískovec pond. This combination of watercourse, pond and settlement gives the village a clear landscape structure. The approximate length of the village should not be confused with a fixed walking distance. The Lískovec pond forms a separate landmark within the course of the stream. Those exploring Drachkov on foot can therefore orient themselves not only by historical buildings and facilities, but also by the course of the stream and the structure of the village.

Walks with Different Return Routes

The walk from Tožice to Drachkov leads westwards from the church, passing the cemetery. The starting point and the route by the cemetery provide a specific initial orientation for this direction. For further route planning, Drachkov is also connected with Bystřice. On a walk from Drachkov to Bystřice, it is possible to return via Zahořany; a shorter return from Drachkov to Bystřice leads via Nesvačily. This allows you to compare two return routes and include them in your planning according to your preferred walking direction, without assuming a particular walking time or level of difficulty. For your selection, you can specify the starting point and return route separately.

Sport and Culture in the Village

The TJ Sokol Drachkov football stadium is currently used for sporting and cultural events.

If you would like to extend your research to other Czech destinations, you can also include Maršovice, Neustupov, Slapy-Nedvezi, Vsetice, Radošovice, Vodslivy, Miřetice and Heřmaničky in your planning.
