Cerhovice offers several very different points of interest for exploring the town within a small area: St. Martin's Church, with medieval origins and a Baroque transformation, an observation tower with an elevated platform, as well as monuments and historic graves. St. Martin's in the centre of Cerhovice

Today's St. Martin's Church dates from the 15th century and was later rebuilt in the Baroque style. It stands in the middle of Cerhovice's market square on the Beroun–Plzeň state road. Its location within the townscape is therefore clearly defined, without requiring you to search for a remote standalone site.

Architecturally, it is a single-nave, rectangular building with a Gothic polygonal presbytery. A tower is attached to the nave on the south side. The church grounds also include a late-Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk east of the presbytery. This means that different forms and historical layers can be read in a single building: the Gothic component, the later Baroque redesign and the accompanying statue.

Observation tower and practical orientation

The observation tower in Cerhovice has a viewing platform at a height of 20 metres. You can reach it by climbing 108 steps. The tower is freely accessible year-round, providing a clearly defined destination for exploring the town regardless of when you visit Cerhovice.

When arriving by car, take exit 41 of the D5, drive through the settlement of Třenice and then continue along Letná Street. You can also include the town in your plans when travelling by train: Cerhovice railway station is approximately 2.5 kilometres from the observation tower on foot. The approximate distance remains the main point of reference.

Monuments with a history of their own

In the cemetery of Cerhovice, near the middle of its western wall, stands the family tomb of the Röthlingshöfer family. It consists of a sandstone stele with two lower sandstone wings and a large granite tomb slab. The different materials and clearly defined form make the tomb an independent detail of the local culture of remembrance.

The railway accident memorial stands in a park laid out on the site of the former abandoned cemetery of Cerhovice. The Neo-Gothic memorial, built in 1868, was erected over a communal grave for 22 soldiers who died in a train accident near Újezd u Cerhovic. It is made predominantly of reddish-brown arkose sandstone; the more elaborate finials are made of Mšeno sandstone. Another point of reference is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in the middle of Cerhovice village square.
