Čestlice – Water World, Culture and History
Čestlice combines local history with a distinctive water and sauna experience. If you would like to combine cultural monuments, historical memories and shared days of vacation with water and relaxation during your trip, you will find a range of options here.
Water World and Sauna in the Průhonice–Čestlice Area
Aquapalace Praha is located in the Průhonice–Čestlice commercial zone and can be reached via the D1 motorway, exit D6. The Water World covers 9,150 m². The sauna world is divided into Finnish saunas, Roman baths and outdoor saunas. When planning your trip, you can therefore consider a stay involving water and saunas alongside Čestlice’s historical themes.
Cultural Monuments and Local History
The Church of Saint Procopius in Čestlice is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It was largely built in 1863 and 1864. A small church already stood on this site in the 14th century, giving the locality a significantly older ecclesiastical history. The church thus brings together a 19th-century building phase and a sacred site with roots dating back to the 14th century.
Another distinctive feature is the statue of Saint Wenceslas. The Baroque sandstone sculpture dates from 1785 and stands on a park-like triangular square on Václava-Vaniše Street in Čestlice. At the intersection of the roads towards Dobřejovice and Říčany, the monument to the heroes of the First World War also commemorates the history of the locality. Two 9th-century skeletons are buried beneath the monument.
Palaces, Museum and Islands in the Surrounding Area
Various destinations for broader cultural and landscape research can also be found outside the town center. Práče Fortress is located near Čestlice. Palác Kinských, a palace, is also in the surrounding area. The wider regional area is home to Golz-Kinsky Palace, likewise a palace, as well as the Rudolfinum Gallery, a museum.
The landscape landmarks around Čestlice include Veslařský ostrov, Velké Benátky and Slovanský ostrov. All three are islands. The Praha-Uhříněves hill is also located nearby.
Choosing Čestlice as Your Accommodation Location
When looking for accommodation, you can first determine your preferred focus. If Aquapalace Praha is to play an important role, base your search on the destination of Čestlice and the Průhonice–Čestlice area. If the church, statue and war memorial are the main focus, choose a stay with a stronger emphasis on local history. The palaces, museum, islands and hill add destinations in the nearer or wider regional area to your plans.
