A nature trail with local history

The Hvozdná nature trail is dedicated to the recipients of the Hvozdná municipality commemorative medal. Its nine stops are marked with information boards. These explain the place names of the respective sites and their origins. The trail therefore offers not only a series of stops, but also a direct way to learn about the history of the locality. Those exploring Hvozdná on foot can read the individual boards one after another and follow how the names of the sites have developed.

All Saints' Church and historical evidence

All Saints' Church in Hvozdná was built in 1784. Inside, the altarpiece created in 1890 particularly draws attention: alongside Czech patron saints, it also depicts the so-called Fourteen Holy Helpers. The historical bells include two large bells dating from 1598 and 1642. The different dates make the church a place where several eras of local and religious history are directly connected.

Theatre as a living tradition

Hvozdná's cultural history is not limited to buildings. The Divadlo Hvozdná theatre building opened in 1929, while the tradition of amateur theatre in Hvozdná dates back to 1909. The Kroužek divadelních ochotníků from Hvozdná was selected five times for the national showcase of rural theatre ensembles in Vysoké nad Jizerou. Further cultural events are also held in the Lovka complex. To this day, the area around Argalaška Pond has a tradition of concerts by Jiří Březík.

Fishing and cycling as further options for the day

Day, weekend and annual fishing permits are available at Argalaška Pond. A day permit is valid for one carp and two crucian carp. A weekend permit allows for two carp and four crucian carp; annual permits are available in limited numbers. These clearly different permit options give a stay at the pond its own focus, without requiring fishing and cultural discoveries to be combined.

For cyclists, access from Hvozdná to the U Větřáku junction follows cycle route 5036 with a steady incline. In addition to the nature trail and cultural sites, this means that a specific cycling connection is also documented. The focus you choose therefore depends on whether you want to combine local history, theatre, events, fishing or a cycling tour.
