Brusné combines several experiences that can come together to create different kinds of holiday days: history surrounding the ruins of Křídlo Castle, waterways in the village and an excursion area on the western edge of the village. In addition, it is located at a gateway to the Hostýnské vrchy. If you are looking for a place in the Czech Republic that offers culture, landscape and opportunities for shared activities, Brusné provides various points of interest without any single attraction defining the character of the village.

Historical traces around Křídlo and Panský Mlýn

The ruins of Křídlo Castle are located in the cadastral area of Brusné. The castle was founded in the mid-14th century; the Křídlo site is also classified as an important archaeological site. Access to the meeting point for the guided tour of the ruins follows a hiking trail marked first in yellow and then in blue. Visiting the castle is therefore not only a historical point of reference, but is also connected with a marked route.

Another historical stop is Panský Mlýn. The mill is considered one of the oldest freehold mills in the region. The first references date from the second half of the 14th century; when it was sold, the freehold estate of Křídlo Castle also included the mill. At Panský Mlýn, visitors can also see a functioning replica of the original water wheel. It is supplied with water from the Rusava via a canal and an aqueduct. Here, the canal and aqueduct connect the Rusava with historical milling technology. This brings together the history of the mill and a tangible, comprehensible element of water engineering in one place.

Water and landscape in Brusné

Brusné lies at the confluence of the Brusenka stream and the Rusava River. Brusenka is a right-bank tributary of the Rusava, while the Rusava is located in the southwestern part of Brusné.

The village landscape also features a chapel with a bell tower built in 1840. Zvonička v Brusném is another small cultural point of interest: its ground floor can be viewed as a chapel through a glass pane, and there are two benches in front of the entrance. For a slower-paced exploration of the village, such stops offer a different approach from the castle ruins or the marked hiking trail.

Háj: Ponds, events and exercise

The Háj excursion area, with two ponds and a restaurant, lies on the western edge of Brusné. The area also includes a covered stage for various events and a children’s playground. For families, this makes it possible to spend a day differently from visiting historical sites: bodies of water, a play area and an event venue are all located within the same excursion area.

A workout and parkour playground was also built in Brusné in 2019. Together with the children’s playground in Háj, this provides two distinct, specifically designated opportunities for exercise. The municipal restaurant Háj u Rybníčků reopened in March 2026, adding a current time reference to the information about the excursion area.
