Zahrádka lies in an area shaped by ponds and nature observation. The Náměšťské rybníky pond landscape extends across several localities, while a route for cyclists and hikers runs through the Oslava Valley. The village is also home to an important building, the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

Ponds, Landscape and Birdwatching

The Náměšťské rybníky pond landscape is located around Náměšť nad Oslavou and comprises several dozen ponds. Among other areas, it extends between the municipalities of Náměšť nad Oslavou, Okarec, Smrk, Hostákov, Nárameč, Budišov, Pyšel, Zahrádka and Ocmanice. Zahrádka is therefore part of an area shaped not by a single body of water, but by numerous ponds and several localities.

The Dubovec pond near Častotice is particularly interesting for nature observation: it is known for its numerous birds. In the Náměšťské rybníky pond landscape, 13 species of waders can also be observed. The focus of observation thus ranges from a single pond rich in birdlife to the larger landscape with several pond locations.

One individual landscape feature in the Zahrádka area is Rybník Stejskal pond. It is fed by the Maršovecký potok stream and covers 12.57 hectares. It is used mainly for fish farming and recreational purposes. This means that a tributary, a clearly defined body of water and two types of use come together at this pond. Its specific size and use distinguish it from the pond landscape spread across several localities.

The area around Zahrádka consequently reflects two different scales. Náměšťské rybníky represents an area with several dozen ponds between several municipalities. Rybník Stejskal, by contrast, can be described as an individual body of water in terms of its area, tributary and use. With its birdlife, Dubovec adds another point of focus within this larger landscape area.

Through the Oslava Valley on Foot or by Bike

The „Údolím řeky Oslavy k rozhledně v Ocmanicích“ route is 10 kilometres long and suitable for cyclists and hikers. From Naloučanský Mlýn (Jeřábkův mlýn), it follows the Oslava Valley to Zahrádka. It then passes Dubovec pond and continues to the Ocmanice lookout tower.

The route is suitable for cyclists and hikers and remains clearly defined at 10 kilometres. Dubovec and the Ocmanice lookout tower give the route two distinct highlights: birdlife is the focus in one place, while the viewpoint takes centre stage in the other.

A Cultural Highlight in Zahrádka

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius provides a cultural highlight in the village. It is an important building in Zahrádka. The chapel thus serves as an individual cultural point of reference in the village, while the pond landscape extends across several localities.
