Odunec between the Chapel, Watercourses and Cycling Routes

Odunec combines a picturesque landscape with small cultural monuments, watercourses and specific opportunities for excursions. If you are planning a stay in the Czech Republic and want to combine different experiences rather than visit just one attraction, you will find several clearly distinct points of interest here: a newly renovated chapel, routes for cycling tours, the Obora recreation area and destinations in the surrounding landscape.

The Chapel of the Holy Family in Odunec was first consecrated in 1910 and has been newly renovated. It thus provides a tangible historical connection within the village. Odunec is also home to a former Baroque manor house. The term “former” is explicitly part of the building’s history and does not describe its current use.

Obora, the Municipal Pond and Routes for Active Days

The Obora recreation area includes a grass sports field near the municipal pond. There is also a fenced, freely accessible children’s playground near the Chapel of the Holy Family. These two facilities have different focuses: in Obora, an open area for sports is the main feature, while the playground forms its own clearly defined area near the Chapel of the Holy Family.

The bodies of water also give the surroundings a distinctive character. West of Odunec, a stream flows from the direction of Zárubice into the Mocla. A second stream rises from springs near Svatochen and feeds the upper pond in Obora. Anyone who pays attention to the connection between the settlement, pond and landscape during a walk or excursion encounters not just general natural scenery, but two differently described watercourses, each with its own direction and function.

For cyclists, the area around Odunec offers a 12.6 km cycling tour around the Dalešice Reservoir. It is classified as easy and includes cycling routes 401, 5110, 5107 and 5175. A second option is the 38.48 km “Z Dalešic přes Lipník” cycling route, which passes through Odunec. It is also classified as easy and is suitable for trekking bikes. The shorter tour leads around the reservoir, while the longer one passes through Odunec.

The settlement of Hubertův dvůr belongs to the municipality of Odunec. It offers views of the surrounding landscape. This place adds another landscape highlight to the water-related and cultural-historical impressions. When choosing accommodation for your stay, you can therefore first consider whether you want to focus on the chapel and local facilities, a cycling tour, or hikes and cycling excursions to the surrounding historical destinations. Odunec combines these possibilities at the level of the described local and landscape experiences, without every accommodation having to offer the same features or be in the same location.
