Myslibořice is a Czech travel destination where sacred buildings, castle history and a characteristic hilly landscape come together within a compact thematic area. Particularly impressive is the protected site of the Church of Saint Luke: it includes the church itself, the cemetery wall, the gravestone of Josef Suk and the grounds of the site. For travellers who want to combine culture and landscape when choosing their accommodation, the town therefore offers a clear focus beyond simply staying in the town.

Churches, Castle and Historical Discoveries

The Church of Saint Luke has a preserved Gothic core dating from the 13th century and a remarkable Baroque façade. The bells also tell of the building's long history: they date from 1550 and 1609. In front of the church stand four Baroque statues depicting Saint Florian, Saint John of Nepomuk, Saint Aloysius and Saint Francis.

Another notable stop is the Chapel of Saint Tekla. The small Baroque church is situated on a slope and surrounded by a cemetery. The gable contains a stucco plaque bearing the year 1755. Below the chapel, a spring rises on its southern side on the slope, with clean water described as healthy. The spring is monitored by the hydrometeorological institute.

Myslibořice Castle is a Baroque, three-winged, two-storey building in a U shape. It stands on the site of a former fortress dating from the 14th century. The historical picture is complemented by an archaeological report: in April 2007, the discovery of a prehistoric settlement was reported at the bottom of the Myslibořice pond. According to archaeologist Milan Vokáč of the Vysočina Museum, this is the first Neolithic settlement excavated in the Vysočina Region.

Park, Heights and Ponds

The Myslibořice castle park covers 7 hectares and is listed as a cultural monument. It is therefore one of the town's independent cultural attractions, without its value having to be explained solely through the castle. Geomorphologically, the surrounding landscape lies in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands; the larger part belongs to the Jevišovice Upland. The average elevation is 483 m.

Notable elevations include Stříbrná at 531 m and Svatocheň at 523 m. Na Skalním reaches 556 m, making it the highest elevation. The region is also characterised by a large number of ponds. Those who want to alternate historic buildings with landscape impressions during their stay will therefore find various points of interest in Myslibořice: sacred art, Baroque architecture, an archaeological past and surroundings shaped by hills and bodies of water.
