Buildings and memorial sites

The first written mention of Útěchovice pod Stražištěm comes from the land register of Strahov Monastery from 1410. A special connection to Czech theatre history exists through Jiří Frejka. The local Hájovna was his birthplace; Frejka also founded the Osvobozené divadlo together with Jindřich Honzl in 1920.

At the northern edge of the municipality lies Myslivna No. 41, which is registered as an immovable cultural monument. It is considered the birthplace of the Czech director and theatre scholar Jiří Frejka; a commemorative plaque on the façade recalls this. The complex includes adjoining farm buildings. The forestry building was remodelled in 1895 and has eclectic façades with vertically boarded gables. The local Hájovna is one of the municipality’s sights.

Near the southeastern edge of the municipality lie the remains of the old Smolína Castle (Pechburg). Southeast of the municipality, Smrčinský Mill No. 20 also stands beside a stream and is considered a locally architecturally valuable building. Both sites add different forms of past development to the historical aspect of a stay.

A Baroque chapel stands in the lower part of the village and is maintained; its bell rings twice a day. The Baroque Chapel of St John the Baptist was built in the 18th century on the southwestern slope of Stražiště hill by a spring. The chapel site was formerly a destination for church pilgrimages. A pilgrimage is also held in the municipality. Other traditions and nature activities include a traditional Shrovetide procession and mushroom walks.
