The Muzeum Vysočiny Pelhřimov is located in the Zámek pánů z Říčan. The Freskový sál is the most representative room of the former Zámek pánů z Říčan. The Expozice Pelhřimov - historie - současnost complements the cultural offering with information panels, an interactive display featuring historical films about the Pelhřimovsko region, information on the development of the city’s coat of arms and a three-dimensional model of the city’s settlement.

A different perspective is offered by the Městská šatlava, which presents a historical exhibition based on the authenticity of the site and extensive source material. Its torture chamber contains original torture instruments and precise copies; the furnishings correspond to the period from the 16th to the 18th century. The Muzeum strašidel shows ghosts and other supernatural beings that can be encountered in the Vysočina region in a cellar on Masarykovo náměstí.

Walking Routes, Views and Unusual Discoveries

The observation tower of the Church of sv. Bartoloměje and the Naučná stezka Městské sady provide an opportunity to alternate between city history and physical activity. From a height of 30 metres, the observation tower offers views of Pelhřimov and its surroundings. The Naučná stezka consists of twelve information panels distributed along an almost 3 km circular route.
