Watershed and Landscape

The European watershed between the Elbe and Danube runs through Nová Buková. It forms the boundary between the drainage basins of the two rivers: water that flows away on one side enters one drainage basin, while water from the other side enters the other. A drainage basin is the area from which water flows into a river or river system. The watershed therefore does not lie between the rivers themselves, but separates the areas from which water flows into them.

In the southern part of the cadastral area of Nová Buková, a landscape of value has been designated that is largely forested and includes a body of water. A cadastral area is a defined territorial area used to geographically assign sub-areas within that area. The designation applies exclusively to the southern part of the cadastral area of Nová Buková; the entire cadastral area is not included. Within this sub-area, both the predominantly forested land and the body of water form part of the landscape of value.

The two landscape descriptions therefore refer to different spatial levels: the watershed determines drainage between two river systems, while the designated area identifies a clearly defined part of the cadastral area. The forest and body of water are jointly located within this sub-area and form part of the designation.

Hiking and Orientation on Site

A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through Nová Buková. The yellow color serves as an orientation feature for hikers on the section through the village. The marking follows the specific route within Nová Buková. Anyone following the route in the village will find its markings in the yellow color.

Fortress, Chapel and Commemorative Culture

A former fortress in Nová Buková was built at the end of the 16th century by Arnošt Leskovec of Leskovec.

The chapel in Nová Buková was consecrated in 1901. Its construction was financed through contributions from local residents. The financing concerns the construction of the chapel; its consecration took place in 1901.

About 200 meters beyond Nová Buková in the direction of Horní Cerekev stands a monument commemorating the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia. The distance of about 200 meters is an approximate value, not an exact measurement. The location is defined from Nová Buková by the direction of Horní Cerekev and the position beyond the village.

Getting There by Train

Nová Buková railway station is located on line 224 between Tábor and Horní Cerekev. This connection continues onward to Jihlava. The line therefore includes the section between Tábor and Horní Cerekev as well as the continuation to Jihlava.

There is no ticket counter at the station; tickets are sold on the train.
