The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the village square of Samšín near Pacov. It provides the village with a specific cultural point of interest that can easily be combined with a walk through Samšín, without requiring an extensive sightseeing program. The village's history also goes back a long way. Samšín is first mentioned in an urbar of Oldřich of Rožmberk from the period before 1373, in the form “Sampschin”. An urbar is a historical register, meaning that the old form of the name also offers an insight into the written record of the village. Until the abolition of the manorial administration in 1849, Samšín belonged to the Pacov estate.

Cycling and views

For active excursions, Cycling Route No. 1218 Pacov–Želiv is relevant: it runs through Samšín and thereby connects the village with a signposted route between Pacov and Želiv. Those who would first like to view the surrounding area from a fixed vantage point can see Mount Stražiště and the neighboring municipality of Velká Chyška from the bus stop opposite the turnoff to Samšín. This viewpoint complements the route with a brief moment of orientation in the landscape.

Events with their own character

The Samšín Cup is an annual sporting and social event held near Samšín. The Samšín Cup program includes a volleyball tournament for pairs, including mixed pairs. The games are played on an unusual playing field specific to the event. This makes the Cup a unique experience within the village calendar and distinguishes it from an ordinary volleyball tournament. The fourth round of the Pelhřimovská hasičská liga also took place in Samšín on July 20, 2024. This date is a past event date; at the same time, it shows that Samšín also serves as a venue for organized competitions.
