Božejov

Božejov Château also shapes the identity of the village. It is a four-winged, multi-storey building. Its arcaded façade faces the road in the eastern part of the municipality. The originally Gothic castle was converted into a château in the 16th and 17th centuries. Its rooms now house a single-class primary school for grades 1 to 5. This present-day use is just as much a part of the building’s history as its architectural development and should be taken into account when assessing the complex.

You will also encounter historical reminders away from the larger buildings. The “Adámek” memorial stone commemorates peasant uprisings. A protected wayside shrine also stands on the road to Střítež.
