Prosíčka Between Hiking Route and Village History

Prosíčka combines an 18.5 km hiking route with traces of two formerly independent villages, a mill with a long local history, and several small religious monuments. The local landscape includes the Nezdínská studánka spring in a wooded valley below Nezdín and the Nezdínský potok stream that rises there. The municipality of Prosíčka is also home to the chapel at the Nezdínská studánka, built in 1929. This makes it possible to explore the area from several different perspectives: along the course of the hike, through the history of the two former villages, and through individual structures and memorials.

The Cesta pátera Josefa Toufara

The Cesta pátera Josefa Toufara hiking route runs for 18.5 km from Leština u Světlé nad Sázavou to Smrčná railway station. From Leština u Světlé nad Sázavou, it leads via Dobrnice, Kynice, and Číhošť to Prosíčka. It then continues via Nezdín, Opatovice, Dubice rozc., and Benetice to Smrčná railway station. Prosíčka therefore lies on the route between Číhošť and Nezdín, not at one of its endpoints. The complete sequence of place names shows precisely how Prosíčka fits into this route.

In Prosíčka, the route passes an interesting wooden sculpture of a firefighter. The wooden sculpture lies within the section between Číhošť and Nezdín. As an individual detail, it supplements the place names and route information with a specific object along the way.

Traces of the Former Villages

Dolní Prosíčka and Horní Prosíčka were formerly two independent villages. In 1545, the village of Dolní Prosíčka made payments. The former bell tower in Dolní Prosíčka no longer exists. In Horní Prosíčka, however, a bell tower still stands, making it possible to distinguish a surviving testament from a structure in Dolní Prosíčka that no longer exists. The distinction between the two parts of the settlement shows that Prosíčka grew out of the histories of two formerly independent villages.

Vodákův mlýn is mentioned as early as 1587. Over the course of its history, the mill was also known as Franclův mlýn, Šotolův mlýn, and Brodilův mlýn. These different names therefore belong to the history of the same mill and do not refer to additional structures or independent places.

Nezdínská studánka and Small Religious Monuments

The chapel at the Nezdínská studánka was built in 1929 within the municipality of Prosíčka. The water of the Nezdínská studánka spring is weakly radioactive. The chapel and the spring water thus represent different aspects of the area: one is a dated structure, while the other is a distinctive property of the spring.

Further monuments can be found in Horní Prosíčka. A bell tower still stands there, with a bell purchased in 1950. There is also a stone cross beside House No. 14. The cross complements the bell tower with another clearly located religious memorial.
