Cycling with two different profiles

There are two routes for road and trekking cyclists, differing mainly in length and difficulty. The Chotěboř–Vepříkov–Dolní Krupá–Česká Bělá–Chotěboř route is 41.5 kilometres long and is a moderately difficult, hilly road route for road and trekking bikes.

The Rušinov–Chotěboř–Česká Bělá–Havlíčkův Brod–Šlapanov route is slightly longer at 45 kilometres and is classified as a difficult, hilly road route. Road and trekking bikes are also suitable here. It is therefore longer and more demanding than the 41.5-kilometre, moderately difficult route. The two routes also differ in their course: the first returns to Chotěboř, while the second runs from Rušinov to Šlapanov.

Cultural and historical traces in Česká Bělá

A central landmark is the Church of St Bartholomew in Česká Bělá. It is an immovable cultural monument, originally Gothic and dating from the 14th century. The nave was remodelled in 1734 based on an earlier design by J. Santini.

The regional history of ore mining is also part of the town’s distinctive background. The ore veins along the Počátky–Česká Bělá axis were mined in the Middle Ages in their most productive sections. Those interested in how earlier raw-material extraction shaped landscapes will find a specific historical connection here that extends beyond individual buildings.

The Baroque Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers stands on Šibeniční hora. It dates from 1762 and complements the church’s Gothic-influenced history with an independent Baroque monument. With its construction date of 1762, it belongs to a significantly later building phase than the church’s Gothic origins. A Jeffrey pine also grows in the park of Česká Bělá Castle and is considered to have high scientific and aesthetic value. This tree is therefore also one of the town’s notable natural features.

A hike and a past event example

For a shorter activity, a short, easy hike begins in the centre of Česká Bělá. The path is marked with yellow tourist signs. This clearly described route distinguishes the experience from the two longer road routes and offers another way to combine your stay with physical activity. Beginning in the centre, the hike has a different focus from the two hilly road routes.

An unusual example of a local event is the Českobělská Neckiáda on 9 August 2025. Unconventional watercraft competed against one another in several disciplines on Prokšův rybník. The date is in the past and therefore represents a documented event in the town’s history, not a currently announced date.
