Ujčov combines experiences in nature, marked trails and notable evidence of the village’s history. This Czech village is therefore an interesting choice for travellers who do not want to limit their stay to a single excursion destination: landscapes, viewpoints, cycling, walks, sacred buildings and regional produce are all available as distinct discoveries.

Water, Valley and Viewpoints

Among the most striking natural destinations are the Ujčovské vodopády waterfalls west of Ujčov. They form a system of cascades; the two main drops have a combined height of 9 metres.

A different perspective on the landscape is offered by the Babylon viewpoint near Kovářová. It lies at an elevation of 626 metres above sea level and offers a view of the surrounding area. Thus, alongside the Svratka watercourse and the cascades, the higher-elevation viewpoint provides another distinct focus.

In the Ujčov area, the Svratka winds through deep, wooded valleys. South of Ujčov, its banks are also home to a stand of the protected ostrich fern. In the village centre, three large-leaved lime trees stand near the war memorial. Together, these details show different sides of the village: wooded river valleys, a distinctive protected plant and established local features.

Cycle Route and Walk through Ujčov

Marked cycle route 4025 from Polička to Nedvědice runs through Ujčov.

An easy walk from Štěpánov nad Svratkou to Nedvědice is 7.6 kilometres long and passes through Ujčov. The marking sequence for orientation along this route is documented: most of the route to the church in Nedvědice follows the red trail marking, while the final section to the railway station follows the yellow marking. The trail marking changes at the church in Nedvědice.

Chapels, Cultural Monuments and Local History

The centrepiece of the village’s sacred history is the Chapel of St Francis of Assisi. It has a multi-storey rectangular tower with a curved roof, as well as a covered, functioning wooden belfry. It is probably a vernacular building erected on the site of an older bell tower. In 1993, the Chapel of St Francis was restored and consecrated by the Bishop of Brno, V. Cikrle.

The Church of St Wenceslas, a state-protected cultural monument, is located in the village district of Dolní Čepí. Between Horní Čepí and Dolní Čepí, a memorial erected in 1975 also commemorates partisan units from the Second World War. Alongside nature and outdoor activities, these destinations give a stay in Ujčov a historical and cultural dimension, without reducing the village to a single attraction.

Fruit Must from the Surrounding Orchards

The fruit press in the Kasany district of Ujčov is also part of the local character. Fruit from the neighbouring orchards is processed there. Ujčovský mošt can be purchased directly from the farm, at farmers’ markets and in selected shops. This regional connection adds a specific culinary discovery to the landscape and cultural themes.
