Horní Radslavice combines a eventful local history with a landscape of wooded slopes, waterways and distinctive viewpoints. If you would like to combine nature experiences and historical discoveries during your stay in the Czech Republic, you will find several different points of interest here: a blue-marked hiking trail, Strážnice Mountain, Luční Pond and visible traces of the village’s history.

Landscape between Strážnice and the Svatoslavský potok

East of Horní Radslavice, Strážnice Mountain rises to an elevation of 564 metres. From there, you can enjoy views of the surrounding landscape. The Svatoslavský potok separates Horní Radslavice from the mountain and also shapes the southern and eastern parts of the area. Its valley stretches there with floodplains and steep, predominantly wooded slopes. This combination makes the village interesting for anyone who, when choosing accommodation, considers not only the name of the village but also the surrounding landscape.

A tributary of the Svatoslavský potok rises west of Horní Radslavice in a wooded area below Posekaný Mountain. Below the settlement, it flows into the Svatoslavský potok. To the south, the area borders the Třebíčsko Nature Park; here too, the Svatoslavský potok forms the boundary. The watercourse, valley slopes and edge of the protected area give the surroundings clearly recognisable geographical contours.

Hiking, Water and a Specific Connection to the Village

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through the cadastral area of Horní Radslavice. This gives you a clearly designated starting point if you would like to explore the surroundings on foot. Luční Pond lies west of the village. Swimming and fishing are possible there. This allows you to combine different interests when planning your trip: a trail through the wider area, views from Strážnice or time by the water at Luční Pond.

There are also small, clearly recognisable sights within the village itself. A bell tower stands in the village square. Several historic crosses can also be found in Horní Radslavice and its surroundings.

A Local History with Several Names and Dates

The first written mention of Horní Radslavice dates from 1377. In 1409, Ladislav z Kravař na Meziříčí sold the village, with the consent of Anežka, the daughter of the deceased Jan of Meziříčí, to Janko, Štědroň and Mikuláš from Bochovice. In 1436, a dispute arose over Raclavice, the historical name of Horní Radslavice, because of the Bochovice inheritance. The following year, an agreement was reached between the parties. Anyone interested in regional history can therefore view the present-day village through its earliest mention, its ownership history and its historical name.
