Discover Břvany: Church, Cultural Monuments and Trails

Břvany combines notable evidence of the village’s history with walks and cycling routes through a landscape that partly extends into the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. Historical Traces in Břvany

The focal point is St. Martin’s Church, dating from 1501. The single-nave Late Gothic building has a square tower and is located near the Břvany railway crossing, at the intersection of the roads towards Lenešice and Žatec. The church was repaired and reconsecrated in 2004. The rural homestead No. 22 is also part of the historic village structure and is considered a valuable urban-planning and architectural element of Břvany. The gate at house No. 2 is a protected immovable cultural monument.

Smaller monuments also add to the character of the village. Břvany is home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the 18th century. Another statue depicts Saint Roch: it dates from 1932, was created by H. Kwapil and stands on a plinth dating from 1811.

The landscape around Břvany offers numerous excursions and walks. Near Břvanský vrch, scattered basalt blocks known as the “Kamenní mužičci” lie at an elevation of 302 m above sea level. Cycling Routes and a Route Through the Municipality

For cycling trips, the 35-kilometre Mostecký okruh passes through Břvany. The route runs entirely on roads, has only gentle inclines and is suitable for cross, trekking and mountain bikes. In addition, the 55-kilometre Lounský okruh Českým středohořím I cycling route passes through Břvany. The Z Loun přes Ranou do Postoloprt route also runs through the municipality and follows the road past Břvanský vrch. The route lengths make the excursions clearly distinct: at 35 kilometres, the Mostecký okruh is more compact, while the Lounský okruh, at 55 kilometres, offers a significantly more extensive framework. The gentle incline of the Mostecký okruh may make the choice easier if you are looking for a less demanding route; at the same time, the scope of the tour can be determined in advance.
