Tučapy combines a rich local history with a hiking option nearby. The sequence of the school and municipal administration is particularly easy to trace: the present-day pub housed part of the former municipal administration, and a building next door changed from a school into municipal offices. If you would like to include some exercise alongside these historical traces, the Naučná stezka Luleč, with its 22 information panels, is close to Tučapy. Local history and a longer hike offer different focal points for your stay.

The School and Municipal Administration Through the Years

The bell tower in Tučapy originally had two bells. The original old municipal administration was located in the right-hand half of today’s “Pod lípou” pub. The coat of arms of the Bishopric of Olomouc is still displayed on the pub wall. The neighboring buildings also reflect changing uses: from 1869, the building next to the original municipal administration housed a school. After the new school was built, it became the municipal administration and continues to serve that function.

The new two-classroom school building was constructed between 1884 and 1886 and, apart from minor alterations, is still in use today. The town’s history thus encompasses two developments: one building that changed from a school into municipal offices, and a later-built two-classroom school. This sequence provides a concrete framework for Tučapy’s architectural history.

Culture, Get-Togethers, and Refreshments

A personal connection adds to the history of the buildings: historian and artist Jaroslav Kratochvíl was born on January 17, 1885, in Tučapy near Vyškov in Moravia. The Tučapy municipal library has rooms available for small-group gatherings. If you are considering using them for a meeting, check the current arrangements in advance.

For refreshments, the “Pod lípou” pub has a bar, about 60 seats, and a garden. The approximate seating capacity and the facilities listed may change, so if you are planning a visit, it is a good idea to check the current details.
