Dobré Pole

Dobré Pole combines an unusual natural setting with traces of regional history and a community traditionally shaped by viticulture. Particularly characteristic is the coexistence of inland salt meadows, protected hills, an early Baroque church, and local wine cellars. Salt Meadows with Rare Species

Slanisko Dobré Pole is a protected natural monument with inland salt meadows. The plants protected there include the Pannonian sea aster (Tripolium pannonicum), as well as the slender hare's-ear (Bupleurum tenuissimum), sivěnka přímořská (Glaux maritima), and the Bessarabian dandelion (Taraxacum bessarabicum). The animal life also makes the area noteworthy: the documented species include the dung beetle Aphodius plagiatus, the marsh grasshopper Aiolopus thalassinus and the wolf spider Pardosa maisa. Other important and rare plant and animal species also occur there, including specially protected species.

Hilly Landscape and Views

In the northeastern part of the municipality, the hilly landscape with the Dunajovické kopce national nature monument extends into Dobré Pole. The protected area preserves many rare organisms and creates a landscape accent different from that of the salt meadows. At the same time, the national nature monument offers a special view of Pálava. From the ridge, views extend in all directions. Dobré Pole therefore presents two clearly distinct natural themes side by side: the distinctive vegetation of the salt areas and the open views from the protected hills.

Church and Historic Villagescape

The cultural character of the village includes the single-nave early Baroque church “kostel sv. Cecílie”. It was created by expanding a chapel originally built in 1653. In front of the entrance façade stands a stone late Classicist cross with a relief of Our Lady of Sorrows dating from 1835. The 1835 cross therefore belongs to a later historical phase than the chapel originally built in 1653. The church and cross thus form an ensemble in which several historical phases of the village’s development can be read, without reducing Dobré Pole to a single architectural monument.

Viticulture and Local Discoveries

Dobré Pole is traditionally a community shaped by agriculture and viticulture. The wine cellars are located mainly behind the railway station and in the area known as “Za Vedrovým”. This precise distribution is part of the local character and gives the wine tradition a concrete place within the municipality. Other attractions include a wayside niche chapel in the fields. Agriculture, viticulture, and small discoveries of cultural and historical interest thus complement one another in the village.
