Sudoměřice U Tábora: Trails, Forests and Regional History
Sudoměřice u Tábora combines a distinctive valley landscape with trails, rail connections and regional cultural traces. The Černé forests are among the extensive forests surrounding the valley; the large Černý pond lies in the village, and the Židovák hill to the southeast shapes the local landscape. This gives you a destination that brings nature, activity and history together through specific sites.
Forest, Water and Local History
The landscape can be experienced at several points. The stream flowing through Sudoměřice u Tábora flows into the Košínské reservoirs. At the same time, the large Černý pond lies in Sudoměřice u Tábora. A cultural trace leads to the architect Josef Fanta: Sudoměřice u Tábora is his birthplace. This places water, forest and local history side by side, without requiring you to limit your stay to a single sight.
Trails with Different Route Profiles
Marked tourist trails lead through Sudoměřice u Tábora. The longer route “Along the Romantic Trail around Borotín” begins at the Sudoměřice u Tábora railway station. It initially follows the yellow marking; after 1.3 km, from the Černý les junction, it continues along the red marking to the ruins of Borotín Castle. For orientation along the way, both the marked starting section and the change at the junction are relevant. The 10 km route of the “Běh Údolím vzdechů” run leads through the valley of the Černý stream, the Vzdechů alley and the adjoining forests towards Moraveč. The 10 km indicates a clear distance, while the sequence of valley, alley and forests connects several landscape areas within the same route.
The Stříbrná osmička educational trail route also begins in Sudoměřice u Tábora. It is a circular route approximately 50 km long and provides information about the region of historic silver mining between Tábor and Mladá Vožice. At approximately 50 km, it is significantly longer than the 10 km route; the circular route combines this greater distance with the historical focus on silver mining. This means that, when planning your day, a shorter running route and a considerably longer circular route are available as clearly distinguishable route profiles. When choosing your accommodation, you can first decide on the focus of your trip planning: for example, the marked trails in the village, the valley landscape with forests and a pond, or the regional history of silver mining.
Railway Station and Recurring Sporting Events
The railway station is a clear point of reference for arriving. It is located on railway line 220 between Olbramovice and České Budějovice and offers step-free access to all platforms. Local sporting events also give Sudoměřice u Tábora its own profile. The Sudoměřický triathlon had already reached its 33rd and 34th editions. On 11 July 2026, it reached its 37th edition. The “Běh Údolím vzdechů” run was held for the 10th time on 1 May. Thus, both a triathlon and a run form part of the local events profile.
