From the Srubec bus stop, you can reach the České Švýcary Valley and the České Švýcarsko pond on foot in less than 30 minutes. To do so, follow a red-marked hiking trail. An easy walk through the valley is suitable for families with children and for walking a dog; strollers are not particularly recommended. In the summer months, you can also hike around Srubec on marked and unmarked trails.

Cycling on Paved and Unpaved Trails

The marked cycle route through the Novohradsko–Doudlebsko region includes a 17.6-kilometer stage from Srubec to Ostrolovský Újezd. The route runs along paved and unpaved trails. Spring, summer and autumn are considered the best seasons for this cycle route. Another option is the “Šlápněte do pedálů na Budějovicku” cycling program, with a 40-kilometer, three-hour, easy stage through Srubec.

Forests, Ponds and Cross-Country Skiing in Winter

The forests bordering Srubec offer opportunities for mushroom picking. One of the four ponds in Srubec is designated for fishing. In winter, when snow conditions are suitable, the surrounding area is used for cross-country skiing. The landscape therefore offers different highlights depending on the season: hiking and mushroom picking are especially suited to the warmer months, while cross-country skiing depends on sufficient snow.

Monuments with Specific Historical Connections

The monument to Robert W. Whitehead stands in Srubec on Dobrovodská Street. It commemorates the pilot Robert W. Whitehead, who was shot down over Srubec on April 11, 1945. The monument was unveiled on September 28, 1945. Another memorial is the monument to the victims of the First World War. It is located in Srubec at the intersection with Ledenická Street, by a pond in the center of the village, was unveiled in 1919 and was created by the sculptor Edwin Schopenhauer.
