Lažánky: Village History, Ponds and Cycling Route
Accommodation in Lažánky
Lažánky between the Village Square and the Cycling Route
Lažánky combines a historic village square with rural architectural heritage, ponds in the surrounding area and a specific cycling route. The chapel of Panna Maria Strašínská stands on the village square. It is dedicated to this saint and dates from 1884. The Lažánky memorial to those who fell in the First World War also stands in the village; it was erected in 1928. The chapel and memorial create different accents in the village landscape: sacred village history stands alongside a 20th-century memorial.
Villagescape and Historical Traces
The rural architectural heritage includes Farmstead No. 5. It is located in the centre of Lažánky on the south side of the village square. Another historical site is the former smithy in House No. 23. It was converted into a new restaurant in 1988 and currently serves only as the club of the Turisté Lažánky association. The former smithy thus represents a change in use: the conversion into a restaurant belongs to the more recent history of the building, while its current function is exclusively as an association club. The farmstead points to rural architecture, while the former smithy reflects craftsmanship and its later use by an association.
An Event in Regional History
The local farmer Matěj Halaburda is also part of the village’s history. In 1738, he led a peasant uprising in the Lnářsko area. Alongside the visible sites in the village, there is therefore also an event in regional history connected with a person from Lažánky. The historical perspective consequently extends from the chapel, memorial and farmstead back to the 18th century and beyond the immediate village centre.
Ponds, Lomec and the Connection to Blatná
The area around Lažánky has a strong connection with water. There are ponds there that are suitable for recreation. The Lomec holiday cottage area also lies within the municipality. The ponds represent opportunities for recreation in the nearby surroundings, while Lomec forms a distinct area within the municipality. Road III/1399 also passes through Lažánky towards Blatná. In this way, the landscape, holiday cottage area and regional connection lie close alongside the historic village attractions, without Lažánky being limited to a single type of excursion.
A Specific Cycling Route through Lažánky
For cycling tourism, the purple cycling route No. 3 provides a designated loop. It runs from Blatná via Velký Mačkovský, Blatenka, Jindřichovice, Lažánky, Záboří, Milčice, Čekanice and Mačkov, returning to Blatná. Lažánky lies between Jindřichovice and Záboří along the route. The loop is 26 km long. This distance provides a clear framework for planning a day of cycling; at the same time, the sequence passes through several villages before returning to the starting point in Blatná. Anyone wishing to explore the area by bicycle will find, alongside the historic and scenic points of interest, a specific loop with a fixed length. The route thus complements the ponds, rural village landscape and history with an active way to get to know Lažánky and its surroundings.
