Discover Hrutkov

Hrutkov combines an unusually well-preserved, cohesive historic village setting with trails through Česká Kanada and a sports complex with a wake park. This gives the village various points of interest for a stay: you can explore the village structure and building history, follow different trails, or plan activities on the water. Hrutkov is therefore particularly interesting when looking for a hotel or other accommodation if you want to combine culture, landscape and activity.

Historic village setting with a clear structure

The Hrutkov Village Heritage Conservation Zone encompasses the entire built-up area of the municipality. The only exception is the modern agricultural production complex. The protected zone therefore includes the village’s built-up structure as a whole, not just individual buildings.

The predominant architecture of the historic village ensemble is Neoclassical and dates mainly from the 1820s to the 1840s. The historic village was laid out according to a strip-field plan around an irregular oval village green approximately 250 metres long. As you walk through Hrutkov, you therefore encounter not only individual architectural details but also a recognizable, preserved village order.

The Chapel of Saint Joseph

One of Hrutkov’s defining buildings is the Neo-Gothic Chapel of Saint Joseph, which became a characteristic feature of the village in the 19th century. Its unusual geometry also makes it interesting for visitors who pay attention to structural details: the cemetery chapel has a pentagonal central structure on the outside and a decagonal one inside.

In addition to the chapel, the protected complex includes a mortuary, a cross, an enclosing wall with a gate, a retaining wall and the designated plot of land. These components show that the heritage value does not rest solely on the chapel building. The entire built complex forms a distinct focal point within the historic village setting.

Trails through the surrounding area

Several routes incorporate Hrutkov into longer journeys through the landscape. The “Z Kaprouna do Jindřichova Hradce” walking trail leads through Česká Kanada from Kaproun via Kunějov, Kačlehy and Hrutkov to Jindřichův Hradec. The Jindrova stezka runs via Jindřichův Hradec, Jindřiš, Malý Ratmírov, Vlčice, Střížovice, Lomy, Kunějov, Kačlehy, Hrutkov and Otín back to Jindřichův Hradec.

Between Hrutkov and Horní Pěna, part of another route runs along the main road towards Nová Bystřice. The route from Malý Ratmírov to Jindřichův Hradec also leads via Blažejov, Hospříz, Hrutkov, Horní Pěna, Dolní Pěna, Horní Žďár and Jindřichův Hradec.

The Lískovec summit is located nearby. It is 562 metres high and offers a beautiful view of Jindřichův Hradec.

Wake Park, Beach Volleyball and Fishing

The Hrutkov Sports Complex offers a distinctly different focus. It has a wake park with a two-mast tow lift and qualified instructors. The complex also includes a beach volleyball court, and fishing is also possible there.
