Horosedly between Village History and Paths through the Landscape

Horosedly reveals its distinctive character above all through the small, clearly recognizable cultural features of the village. At the center is the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk: it is a cultural monument and the dominant landmark of Horosedly. It was consecrated in 1713. This means that exploring the village begins not with an interchangeable village view, but with a specific building with a history of its own.

Baroque Traces in the Villagescape

Away from the chapel, you will also find several notable reminders of the local past in Horosedly. The small Baroque château is part of Farmstead No. 1. In the lower part of Horosedly, on the other side of the river, there is also a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. A Natural-History Contrast at Nerestský Quarry

The Nerestský Quarry is a distinct landscape feature. The abandoned limestone quarry is home to rock and dry-grassland vegetation as well as species-rich communities of animals and plants. At Nerestský Quarry, calcareous or base-rich rocky grasslands, near-natural dry grasslands and shrub formations on calcareous substrates can be found. These are complemented by chasmophytic vegetation on calcareous rocky slopes. The site thus adds a natural-history theme to the village’s cultural features.
