Cejetice is an interesting choice for travelers who want to combine culture, cycling and proximity to the Otava in a single stay. The town brings together medieval traces, a specific cycling connection to Sudoměř, a sports and recreational area, and a local brewery.

Church and Local Culture

One notable cultural attraction is the Church of Saint Gall in Čejetice. It has stood near the Otava since the mid-13th century. Fragments of wall paintings dating from the third quarter of the 14th century were discovered inside. Part of a Passion cycle from the time of Charles IV was also uncovered on the north side of the nave. These three details make the site particularly interesting if you want to learn about history not only through dates, but through a specific building and its surviving pictorial traces.

The Čejetice Cultural House, house number 155, provides space for a wide range of cultural events organized by the municipality of Čejetice and local associations. Another, different kind of discovery can be found in the corridor of the former school in Mladějovice: Skupův koutek is freely accessible there.

Cycling along the Otava

For active days, the Čejetice sports and recreational area offers a clear starting point: bicycles can be rented there for a fee. The area is located near the Otava and also welcomes passing waterway travelers. Cycling route CT1045 to Sudoměř runs through Čejetice. In addition, the cycling tour “Na kole krajinou rybníků” runs, among other places, through Čejetice and Sudoměř. At 38 km, this tour is easy, suitable for all types of bicycles and for families with small children. This allows you to choose between a connection to Sudoměř and a 38 km-long, easy tour, depending on whether you are heading for a single destination or planning a longer bike ride.

Sudoměř, the Village Pond and the Brewery

In Sudoměř, the 16-meter-high granite monument Památník bitvy u Sudoměře commemorates the Battle of Sudoměř in 1420. Sudoměř lies 10 km east of Strakonice, belongs to the municipality of Čejetice, is accessible year-round and free of charge; several parking spaces make it possible to reach the site by car. In Čejetice, the Obecní rybník is located on the village square. The pond has a small island, and fish harvesting takes place there. For a culinary accent, Pivovar Čejetice invites you to enjoy beer at the brewery. Its taproom is connected directly to the CK tanks via a beer pipeline.

Cejetice as a Starting Point

When choosing accommodation, you can first establish your daily rhythm: Cejetice combines a church, cultural house, cycling route, the Otava and a brewery; a trip to Sudoměř adds a historic monument to this focus. This makes it possible to plan a stay featuring exploration of the town, regional culture and a clearly defined cycling tour.
