Discover Mutěnice: River Landscape, Cycling Routes and Chapel
Accommodation in Mutěnice
The Volyňka forms the southern and western boundaries of the municipality of Mutěnice; on the edge of the town, it meets the Smiradický potok. The U MUTĚNIC Biocentre brings together a naturalistic riverbed, a wide strip of riverside trees and shrubs, and an adjoining meadow. Cycling and hiking routes also pass through Mutěnice, while the chapel, wayside shrines and a commemorative plaque offer insights into local history. The river landscape, outdoor activities and local culture provide different points of focus for planning a trip.
Landscape along the Volyňka
The local U MUTĚNIC Biocentre lies on the edge of Mutěnice. It includes a naturalistic bed of the Volyňka, a wide strip of riverside trees and shrubs, and an adjoining meadow. The watercourse, vegetated riverbank and open meadow create a distinctive landscape. The Volyňka and the Smiradický potok also meet on the edge of the town; at the same time, the Volyňka forms the southern and western municipal boundaries. The local biocorridor No. 514, “VOLYŇKA U MUTĚNIC,” is 2 km long and lies in the cadastral areas of Mutěnice and Radošovice. The biocentre brings together several specific landscape features, while the corridor offers a different spatial scale, defined by its length and the two cadastral areas.
Cycling and hiking
Mutěnice offers both cycling and walking routes for active days outdoors. Cycle Route No. 1068 (Strakonice–Vacov) passes through the municipality, following a Class III road there. Cycle Route No. 1070 also passes through Mutěnice. A red-marked hiking route runs through the town, and a walking route along the Volyňka to Strakonice is also listed. The different types of routes offer an initial choice when planning your trip: would you prefer to focus on cycling or spend more time walking? If you follow the red markings, check the current signage before setting out.
Chapel and local history
Local history is also reflected in specific details. The chapel in Mutěnice dates from the second half of the 19th century and was reconstructed in 2004–2005. Inside, a tiled Stations of the Cross decorates the chapel. Its date of construction and later reconstruction represent two periods in the town’s history; the tiled Stations of the Cross add a religious decorative feature to the building. A commemorative plaque to Professor František Suchý, a gardener and fruit grower, is located at house No. 1. Mutěnice also has wayside shrines. These cultural highlights range from the building and its interior to a memorial to a specific person.
