Plískov – Chapel, Circular Trail and Local History

Plískov combines a remarkable local history with a wooded setting and several specific reasons to explore the area. These include a chapel dating from 1849, a circular hiking trail with old log houses, three protected oak trees and a planned run through the landscape of Bukov and Plískov.

A planned race with its own landscape setting

A clearly dated event is the 45th Běh Bukovem. It is planned for Saturday, 10 October 2026, and is intended to be the third edition held as part of the Brdský běžecký pohár. Běh Bukovem is a regularly held annual running festival. The route leads across meadows, forest roads and footpaths in Bukov and Plískov. The event takes place in autumn and connects the two villages through a variety of landscape sections. The 2026 edition remains a planned event and has not already taken place.

History from the Kmetcím farm to iron ore mining

Plískov's past reaches back to 1377. At that time, the settlement was a Kmetcím farm owned by Jan Drahoň of Újezd. In 1585, Plískov was sold to Ladislav the Elder of Lobkowicz, thereby becoming connected with Zbiroh. Another historical layer is associated with the period when Dr. Strousberg owned the Zbiroh estate: during this period, iron ore was mined in Plískov.

The Eneolithic stone hammer found in 1914 in the built-up area of Plískov points to a period before 1377. The Eneolithic stone hammer is an archaeological find from a prehistoric era. Beekeeping is also part of the more recent local history. It was formerly practiced in Plískov and continues there to this day, although now only by a few beekeepers.

Chapel, village square and wooded surroundings

A chapel dating from 1849 stands on the village square in Plískov. The Plískov chapel is listed as a protected cultural monument under ÚSKP number 27572/4-2566. A circular hiking trail in Plískov passes old log houses. Along the circular walk, beside the chapel, there is a pond covered with water lilies and equipped with a rest area. The local circuit connects the chapel with the old log houses and the pond.

The wooded surroundings of Plískov belong to the Radečsko–Křivoklátská vrchovina uplands. The village's distinctive natural features also include three protected oak trees. A cultural landmark is Plískov's monument to those who fell in the First World War, created by Vojtěch Havíř, a stonemason and sculptor from Radnice. The composer Josef Poncar also stayed in Plískov. The stay of composer Josef Poncar adds a musical connection to the local history.
