Baroque Culture and Trails into Nature

Bystré U Poličky is a destination for travelers who want to combine a Czech town with a Baroque heritage and a route into nature. The townscape brings together architectural history, sacred art, and a documented circular trail. For families, this opens up different ways to spend the day: you can focus on historical details or follow the Velký městský okruh, which leads from the town into nature.

At the center is the Church of Saint John the Baptist and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Its present form dates from 1726. The church is considered the oldest pilgrimage church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the Czech Republic. In the square in front of the church stands the Baroque statue of Our Lady of Sorrows by J. Pacák, dating from 1725. The interior also holds a remarkable detail: the altar and all the sculptures are made of wood, yet appear to be made of stone.

Another trace of the town's history leads to the Bysterské minimuzeum “Brtounova chalupa.” The museum is located in House No. 137, which dates from 1723. At the shoemaking mini-museum in the so-called Brtounova chalupa, visitors can learn about a shoemaker's work from the ground up. Guided tours of the Bysterské minimuzeum “Brtounova chalupa” and the Church of Saint John the Baptist are available on request. This makes it possible to explore the culture of Bystré not only through its buildings, but also through a traditional craft.

It begins at the Church of Saint John the Baptist and follows a hiking trail toward Panský les. The circular trail leads into nature and connects important landscape features, chapels, and smaller sacred structures. The historic character of Bystré also includes the Baroque town hall, built between 1716 and 1719, and Bysterský zámek in Bystré, constructed between 1586 and 1590. The landscape reference points also vary in distance: Kočíko mountain and Librův Kopec mountain are located in the immediate vicinity of Bystré, while Drašarov mountain is in the surrounding area.
