Dobříkov: Wooden Church, Monuments and Bird Park

Dobříkov combines impressive wooden architecture, an unusually diverse landscape of monuments and nature observation in the Loučná floodplain. This creates a destination where historical discoveries can be combined with a stay in a wetland river landscape.

A Wooden Church with a Special History

The wooden church in Dobříkov was built in 1679 in Velká Kopani, in what is now Ukraine’s Zakarpattia Oblast. On 27 July 1930, it was transferred to Dobříkov. Since 1963, it has been listed as an immovable cultural monument. It is precisely this change of location that makes the church a special part of the village: its history refers both to its original home and to its present connection with Dobříkov. Na Valech and the Monuments of Dobříkov

The V. J. Klofáč Monument is located in the fortified “Na Valech” site. This cultural monument comprises a forester’s lodge, the Klofáč Villa, ramparts, a moat, a cellar and a belvedere. The ensemble is therefore more than a single building and offers an insight into various elements of a fortified complex. The V. J. Klofáč Monument and the “Na Valech” site are open by arrangement during and outside the season.

Other memorial sites add to the historical picture. The Jan Hus statue was declared a cultural monument in 2004. It is approximately five metres high, made of fine-grained yellow sandstone, and was unveiled on 25 August 1912. The old wooden bell tower in Dobříkov was renovated by local residents in 1989. The memorial to the fallen is a four-metre-high sculpture on a sandstone pedestal. It commemorates the residents of Dobříkov and Rzy who fell in the war from 1914 to 1918. The upper village square is also home to the granite monument “Dobříkovským z Malejova”, featuring a bronze coat of arms of the Dobříkovský z Malejova family.

Birdwatching in the Loučná Floodplain

Between Rzy and Dobříkov lies Ptačí park Rzy in the floodplain of the small Loučná River. A total of 213 bird species have been recorded in the park; around 100 species breed in the wetland and its immediate surroundings. The wetland is an important breeding area for numerous wetland and meadow birds, an important stopover site during migration and a source of food throughout the year.

Ptačí park Rzy can be reached via Zámrsk railway station and by car. The water area can be observed from several places. The park therefore offers an independent nature-focused attraction alongside Dobříkov’s historical sights. Visitors with different interests can accordingly divide their time between cultural monuments, village history and landscape observation.

Sport Is Also Part of the Village

Dobříkov also has a nine-hole golf course for sporting activities. Together with the wooden church, memorial sites and bird park, it creates a multifaceted picture of the village: historical details for cultural discoveries, a floodplain landscape for nature observation and a sporting option as another possible focus when planning a trip.
